Start: Flagstaff, AZ (I-40 exit 198) End: Tusayan, AZ (SR-64, at the Grand Canyon gate) States: Arizona Distance: 76 miles Time: 2 hours Hotel: Rodeway Inn Red Feather Lodge Meals: Burger King in Flagstaff, Pizza in Tusayan Big purchase of the day: Jeannie's $50 national parks pass Sight worth driving 2,138.87 miles to see: The Grand Canyon. We drove along the rim, stopping at each overlook to take pictures. We read the informational signs. I saw the Hermit Trail that I hiked all the way down to the river in 1991. We got cold and went back to the hotel. Scariest animal of the day: A deer looking for handouts. Jeannie put down David's window to get a better look, and David flipped out: "Oh, good God, no, don't do that...." (video, 4MB) Intentional deja vu: photographing a rock formation I also photographed in 1991. |
